And Exactly What Is the Fullness of God?

Have you heard that phrase, ”the fullness of God?” I bet you have. It sounds good, doesn’t it? In fact, I think it sounds lyrical, like it should be in a poem. It even sounds catchy, like it should be a tag line, in a song or even a title. We would all agree, it sounds great!

But—what is it? Exactly what is the fullness of God?

First of all, let me remind you of this beautiful thought found in Colossians 1:19, “For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ.“ Christ is God’s Son, and all of God lived here on earth in the body of his Son, Jesus. The conclusion to the thought is that we can trust Jesus, just as we trust God. His words are truth!

Secondly, let’s look at John 1:16 in the Good News Translation, “Out of the fullness of his grace, he has blessed us all, giving us one blessing after another.” Yes, it starts with grace, the forgiveness of our sin, and once we live in that forgiveness, we receive one blessing after another. Your sin, my sin, has already been forgiven in and through the death and resurrection of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

Now we are free to live with a full heart—faith, peace, joy—those are the blessings we have again and again and again living in the fullness of God. His full forgiveness allows us to feel joy, healing, usefulness, and purpose in our lives.

Receive God’s forgiveness, believe in God’s forgiveness, and trust that it will change you and change your life.

THAT is my prayer for you today—to live in the fullness of forgiveness and God’s grace.

Your trusted friend,
