These are comforting words for us who believe: God knew us intimately before we were ever born. In fact, he carried us and cared for us—two beautiful thoughts.
He knew the day you would be born, and he promises to be with us. “God with us”—that is what the name Immanuel means...and Jesus is our Immanuel, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
So in these few words from the prophet Isaiah, God gives us assurances of his Presence, his Permanence, his Provision and his Providence. I hope this comforts you today!
Take a good look at the picture above. The ocean looks huge. The waves are high. The danger seems endless, but are you worried and anxious for the young child? No, of course not. Protection is there!
Keep that picture in mind today. You are the child, and as the waves of this day pound endlessly, your Father, God, is protecting you, providing everything you will need, caring for you, comforting you, and always at your side. These are God’s promises that last FOREVER because God never changes.
The last few words in Isaiah are an invitation for permanence. “I will save you“ means that God desires to give you eternity with him. He created you...for eternity. You see, a relationship with Jesus—God With Us—starts with faith and never ends.
”God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” Ephesians 2:8
Absolutely love this reassurance.
